The Logo for IASS2016 Tokyo

 

 

Mr.Junichi Kato, a student in the graduate school of Ohsaka City University, won the first prize in the Student Design Competition for the logo of the IASS2016 Tokyo. The competition was held during the summer of 2014. After he won the first prize he further developed his design and proposed the final one of the excellence, which is shown here.

 

The two red flows, represent the twenty and twenty-first centuries, which meet and unified in the center in a chaotic manner. The double-comma-crest shape also refers to the plan of the Yoyogi national gymnasium, used for Tokyo Olympic games in 1964.
